Computer Zone

The college is having more than 900 terminals of latest configurations and all are connected through fiber optic cable laid to interlink departments’ computer centers, college office. All latest soft wares are made available in all the departments. The open access to 16 Mbps internet is part of an extensive information network connecting the campus.

Hostel

MEC has separate hostels for boys and girls in the campus itself with a range of rooms and a variety of services that make the inmates to feel as if they are at their homes. Each hostel is assigned with a Deputy Warden who acts as a friend, philosopher and guide to the inmates. The architecturally designed buildings and the surroundings render breezy, green and pleasant and conducive atmosphere for learning.

A modern canteen that can cater to 350 students at a time is available on campus.

Knowing the importance of a cafeteria, a modern cafeteria has been raised which provides our students as well as our staff members, including visitors a delicious, hygienic food at affordable cost. The cafeteria easily accommodates the ever growing student population and it is the perfect spot for a sustaining snack in the middle of hectic schedule in the pursuit of knowledge.

Students Counselling Cell

Students Counselling Cell was established in the year 2008. The Management has taken personal interest in the setting up of the cell. In and around Villupuram and Cuddalore District, Mailam Engineering College is the only college which has the Students Counselling Cell. The Cell has been established by keeping in mind the problems of students. Our youngsters, the most vulnerable section of the society, can be easily misled, trapped and resort to undesirable activities. Hence the Cell plays a major role in guiding the students to move along the right path towards their destination.

The counselling cell of the MEC is imparting its services to the students. The cell conducts the meeting to know the problems of the students and counselling are given to those who face problems.

Dr. T. Vijayakumari, the student counsellor, is a Ph.D. in Psychology from Dravidian University. She has rich psychological experience in counselling and training. She has conducted a number of workshops and seminars for teachers, parents and students related to behaviour problems, mental health etc.

The counsellor helps the students to resolve their problems in a positive way by helping them to analyze the problems develop strategies and find out solutions. Common Personal concerns include grief, relationship difficulties, anxiety and depression etc., The problems are solved in a confidential discussion between the student and the counsellor about personal soul and emotional issue. Later students develop decision making skills which have been needed to meet the challenges of living and learning. Students can develop Self-awareness / Self-realization, individualization, problem-solving skill, acquisition of social skills, behaviours and cognitive change, self-decision making abilities and empowerment etc.,

Stationary-Center

A students’ stationary center is functioning in the campus to cater to all the daily needs of the students.

Fitness Centre

Sound mind can prevail only in sound body. Bearing it in mind, a well equipped 8 station Gymnasium with latest facilities related to body building and fitness training has been established. It is made well use of by the hostellers and also by day scholars.

Our college provides STD and Local Call facilities for both hostellers and day scholars to be in touch with their parents and relatives.

Wi-Fi-Connectivity

Our College has a high-speed WiFi connectivity for every block. Both UG and PG Students make use of the facility and benefit from round the clock internet connectivity. Both the hostels (Boys and Girls) have uninterrupted access to the internet. This facilitates and accelerates the research progress of the R&D cell as well, as students get all the information related to their projects in no time. Faculties who pursue their Ph.D and post doctoral research do benefit from the WiFi Connectivity on campus.
